Norton Signs was established in Derbyshire in 1960 by Michael Norton. From the beginning, the business built a reputation for traditional sign making, with a focus on craftsmanship, care and attention to detail.

Today, the tradition continues with Michael’s daughter, Claire Norton, who proudly follows in her father’s footsteps. Keeping the heritage of hand signwriting alive, Claire specialises in narrowboat signwriting and traditional canal art.

Working closely with each client, she offers a fully bespoke service — from the initial design through to the finished piece — ensuring every project reflects both the character of the boat and the timeless craft of traditional signwriting.
